The UAS Hoax Suspect Was Examined By The Police Because The Rempang Public Kitchen Was Handed Over To The Prosecutor's Office

The Riau Islands Police handed over two suspects in the case of spreading hoaxes, Ustaz Abdul Somad (UAS), who were questioned by the police for providing assistance in the form of public kitchens for residents during the Rmpang riot to the Batam District Attorney.

"It has been handed over, the suspect along with evidence (phase II) to the Batam District Attorney, Monday (20/11) yesterday. The suspects who were handed over were BM (39) and IW (52)," said the Director of Special Crimes (Dirkrimsus) of the Riau Islands Police Kombes Nasriadi in Batam as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 21.

Prior to the surrender of the two suspects, he said, his party first carried out health checks and antigens.

"Both were declared healthy before we submitted them to the Prosecutor's Office," he said.

Earlier on Wednesday (27/9), these two people were named as suspects in the hate speech case by spreading the hoax news of Ustaz Abdul Somad (UAS) being questioned and arrested by the police for providing assistance in the form of public kitchens for residents of Rempang.

To the police, the two suspects admitted that they spread the fake news because they were emotional after hearing the news that Ustaz Abdul Somad was summoned and questioned by the police.

Both of them claimed to be people who admired Ustadz Abdul Somad so that when they heard there was news from other people they didn't know about it, they then uploaded and added words that were provocative.

"Hearing that, the suspect admitted that he was emotional and deliberately uploaded it with writings that invited or provoked him," he said.
