Prabowo: Since The First I Have Matched NU, I Am Also Gusdurian

Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto admitted that he matched Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) for teaching Islam that is cool, tolerant and protects the Indonesian people.

In remarks at the inauguration of the Honorary Professor of the Malang Islamic University (Unisma) Prof. Dr. KH. Ali Masykur Moesa SH, M. Hum, M.Si., in Malang City, East Java, Prabowo said he was also close to former President KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur).

"I think I have always been close to NU, I am also close to Gus Dur, so I am a general, but I am also Gusdurian," Prabowo said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, November 18.

Prabowo explained that the closeness was due to NU's great maintenance of moderate, cool, and protecting Islam. He admitted that his closeness to NU had been fostered for a long time with relations from various organizations born by NU.

"NU teaches Islam which is cool, tolerant, protects all, does not allow violence, extremism. So, I have always been close to Ansor, with NU, I am also Gusdurian," he said.

On the same day, Defense Minister Prabowo opened the National Working Meeting III of the Central Leadership of the Nahdlatul Ulama Bachelors Association (PP ISNU) at the Postgraduate Complex for Al Hikam Malang Islamic Boarding Schools. He invited the Indonesian people to unite because the Indonesian people are one big brother.

"We can compete and compete, but we must know that we are a big brother, therefore in the future we must unite to build the people," he said.

Prabowo assessed that NU has a heroic historical role in the struggle to seize and defend independence. Therefore, he invites ISNU cooperation to build the welfare of the community.

"I invite ISNU to build this nation and state because undergraduates are superior," he said.
