Sukabumi Police Chief Orders Propam To Investigate Cases Of Wrong Arrest

Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Maruly Pardede instructed Sukabumi Police Propam personnel to conduct an investigation into the wrong arrest case carried out by unscrupulous personnel of the Sukabumi Police Satreskrim Opsnal.

"After receiving this information, I immediately instructed the Propam Team to study seriously and objectively in resolving the case, the alleged wrongful arrest of a man with the initials B (35), a resident of Mandrakaya Village, Ciemas District, Sukabumi Regency, which was carried out by Sukabumi Police Satreskrim elements," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 13.

Maruly said that he went directly and visited the residence of the victim, who works as a chili collector, to get the true information that B was previously the victim of the wrong arrest, had received physical violence from unscrupulous members of the Sukabumi Police Satreskrim Opsnal Team.

The police chief received a direct explanation from the victim where this case began when B and his wife and two children took a break by parking their car and sleeping in the car from around 03.00 to 04.00 WIB in front of a minimarket in Cidadap, Simpenan District on November 8, 2023.

At the same time, it turned out that there was an act of burglary carried out by a gang of thieves. After receiving reports of a minimarket burglary, it is possible that the personnel checked CCTV and saw the victim's car and his family parked in front of the minimarket.

Possibly, the personnel thought the car was used by a group of thieves, so that development and arresting the victim, who is a resident of Ciemas District.

"I have heard directly from the victim regarding the chronology of the alleged wrongful arrest and we have formed a team from Propam to investigate this case scientifically and professionally, if the members are found guilty, the results will clearly be dealt with in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.

Maruly also confirmed the victim's health condition by bringing the Sukabumi Police Medical and Health Team (Dokkes) to check the health of the victim.
