JABAR - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) targets the construction of three water pump houses to be completed by the end of 2023. The three are in Cibaduyut, Leuwipanjang, and Pasirkoja.
"The contract is completed on December 27, meaning that the three (pumping houses) will be completed by the end of the year, hopefully it will run smoothly," said Head of the Bandung City Water Resources and Highways (DSDABM) Office, Didi Ruswandi in Bandung, West Java (West Java), Monday 13 November, confiscated by Antara.
Didi said the construction of the pump house was to face the rainy season. This is because the three areas, namely Cibaduyut, Leuwipanjang and Pasirkoja, are always prone to flooding when the rainy season arrives.
"This year, three pump houses have been completed in the hope of reducing flooding or even eliminating floods in the three areas," he said.
Furthermore, Didi said that the pump house in the Citarip area is currently still in the repair stage due to being constrained by the large amount of garbage that makes it difficult for pump machines to suck up flood water.
"The pump house in Citarip is not optimal because the waste is still an obstacle. So, we are continuing to improve this so that it is effective," he said.

In addition to the construction of pump houses, he said, the city government has also completed the construction of 11 retention ponds (storage or water detention) as one of the flood disaster mitigation solutions.
"Later, we will add and repair retention ponds, hopefully this can reduce flooding in the city of Bandung," said Didi.
Didi said that by the end of 2023 his party would complete two retention ponds in the East Bandung area in anticipation of floods that often hit the area.
"It's running this year, only two more are in the Margahayu and Rancabolang areas," he said.
