Police Investigate Alleged Murder Of Elderly In Blitar Whose Body Was Found In The River

The Garum Sector Police, Blitar Regency, East Java investigated the alleged murder of an elderly resident in Talok Hamlet, Pojok Village, Garum District, Blitar Regency, whose body was found in a river.

Garum Police Chief Iptu Punjung Setiyo said the finding of the victim's body began with reports from residents who found an object floating in the river. The findings were then reported to the village apparatus and forwarded to the police.

"The victim's body has been picked up and taken to the hospital for autopsy purposes. Members are also conducting TKP (the crime scene)," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 6.

When found, the officers had conducted an examination and it was found that the victim's body had a head wound. However, to find out the details of the wound, they are still waiting for the results of the autopsy from the team of doctors at Bhayangkara Hospital, Kediri.

He also said that the victim was identified as Sri Juanah (70), an elderly resident of Talok Hamlet, Pojok Village, Garum District, Blitar Regency. He lived not far from where his body was found. So far, he lives with her husband who is also elderly.

"If the wound is on the back of the head. The details will be submitted after an autopsy examination. This case is also handled by the Blitar Police," he said.

Meanwhile, Wardoyo, one of the village officials, said the grandmother's body was indeed found in the river. When found, her body floated.

"Initially there were reports that residents found something in the river, then met RT and we checked, it turned out that there was a corpse there. His position was prone and there was a wound to the head," he said.

His party also helped the police to secure the location by asking residents who had no interest to stay away from the location of the findings. At the location of the victim's house, a police line has also been installed, so that other residents cannot enter all of them.

Currently, the police are also continuing to investigate the case by asking for statements from a number of witnesses. The police also secured a number of evidences found during the crime scene.
