JAKARTA - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) Jayapura branch asked passengers to stay on the ship following the applicable rules.

According to him, despite the incident, now KM Labobar has started sailing again and will arrive at Bitung Port on November 5, then continue its journey to Papua.

"For that to prospective Jayapura passengers, there is no need to worry because we will make repairs and checks so that the ship can later be allowed to operate again," he said.

He explained that with this incident, his party would be even more massive to appeal both at the passenger terminal and on the ship so that the same thing would not happen again.

"We have made an appeal but Pelni will inform again so that passengers always obey the applicable rules while on board," he said.

Head of the Corporate Secretariat of PT Pelni (Persero) Opik said, because the incident occurred in the outside area and there was no damage in the passenger area or the main deck or capabilities, the ship continued to cruise.

"We make sure there are no casualties in this incident because the crew quickly extinguished the fire using adequate fire equipment on board so as to prevent an incident from spreading. We apologize for the concern and inconvenience felt by passengers," he said.
