JAKARTA - The United Nations on Friday called for "full respect for international law," stressed hospitals should not be targeted for attacks, following reports of Israeli attacks at the main gate of the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

In response to Anadolu journalists' questions about the possibility of the United Nations drafting plans to enforce international law and prevent Israeli attacks on health facilities, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said, "We continue to call for full respect for international law."

"This includes provisions that hospitals should not be used in any fighting," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, November 4.

"The PBB is always ready to deliver calls in every (conflict) case," Dujarric said.

When asked about the UN action in addition to calling for an end to hostilities or condemning brutal acts, Dujarric clarified that he could only speak on behalf of the secretary-general of the United Nations.

"We continue to call for this and continue to encourage it in public and continue to encourage it personally," he said.

"There are other parts of the legislature at the United Nations, which may be able to do more to ensure the end of the conflict," Dujarric said.

On Friday, an Israeli bomb attack targeted an ambulance in front of the main gate of the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, which caused the deaths of several Palestinians and injured many others.
