Residents Complain That Clean Water Pipes Are Damaged Due To The Communal IPAL Development Project

JAKARTA - A number of clean water pipe points belonging to residents of the Johar Baru Tanah Tinggi Flats (Rustanti) have suffered a lot of damage due to the construction of the Communal Wastewater Processing Installation (IPAL) in the area. Many residents' clean water pipelines were isolated because they were cut off.

"As a result of this development, many residents have been harmed. Residents have been sick, and again many water pipes have been destroyed because they were hit by heavy equipment," complained Misti, a resident of Rustanti, Thursday, November 2.

Misti said that the breakdown of the residents' clean water pipe did not cover all the blocks in Rustanti. Several blocks affected by the pipe were destroyed due to construction.

"It's a heavy equipment just playing dredged, I don't know if there's a clean water pipe underneath. In my own block, residents haven't been able to get clean water for a month. Residents who don't have clean water are forced to ride to other blocks to take a shower," he said.

Meanwhile, another resident named Rudi (61) added that the damage to residents' water pipes had been frequent since the construction of the communal IPAL. Indeed, there are several clean water pipes that are immediately repaired.

"Wow, if you say it, the residents' clean water pipes have been destroyed here very often. Some are completely dead, such as in block III and other blocks that are on at night," he added.

The Head of Tanah Tinggi Village, Nino Ardiansyah, said that he had not received a report that many clean water pipes belonging to the residents were damaged. The IPAL Communal construction project is targeted for completion in December 2023.
