MUI Calls For Boycott Of Israeli Products On Social Media Response To Violence Without Humanity In Palestine

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) said the call for a boycott of Israeli products that were busy echoing on social media was a reaction of disappointment against the practice of sustainable violence without humanity against Palestinians in Gaza.

"This is a very humane form of protest because there are actions that are inhumane so this is a reaction from the actions taken. So don't just understand the boycott, this action is a form of reaction from what happened," said MUI Secretary General Amirsyah Tambunan when met at the "Mutada Sanawi III" event in Jakarta, Wednesday 1 November, confiscated by Antara.

He said the root cause of the problem of the call for boycott, both in Indonesia and in a number of other countries, was a natural response to acts of war violence.

However, he explained that the call for boycott of Israeli products must also be distinguished, specifically for products that are clearly used to support war. MUI agreed that the product should be echoed to be boycotted together.

"The root of the problem is to commit acts of violence through war when there are products (Israel) that support this is the same, we have to stop it," he said.

Calls to support the boycott of Israeli products and products that openly support Israel's attacks on Gaza continue to increase on various social media platforms, including in Indonesia.

The boycott is claimed to be one of the supports that can be given by residents who care about the condition of Palestine in addition to donations and prayers.

Indonesia strongly condemns acts of violence in Gaza that have resulted in suffering and more civilian casualties, including women and children.

The Indonesian government is committed not to remain silent seeing civilian casualties continue to fall and allowing injustice to the Palestinian people to continue.

Gaza's health authorities said the death toll from Israeli attacks that were still ongoing in the Gaza Strip jumped to 8,525 people.

The victims included 3,542 children and 2,187 women, and 21,542 others were injured, while more than 1,538 Israelis were also killed in the conflict.
