Commission I Of The House Of Representatives Holds Fit And Proper Test For Candidates For TNI Commander 14 November

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives, Meutya Hafid, said that the fit and proper test of the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Agus Subiyanto as the sole candidate for TNI Commander will be held on November 14, 2023 or sooner.

"It's more or less like that (on November 14, 2023), but we see the progress. If the leadership of the DPR is lowered faster, we can make it faster," said Meutya at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 1, which was confiscated by Antara.

Although he could not specify for sure, Meutya emphasized that the implementation of the fit and proper test must be carried out by his party before November 21, 2023.

"The point is that before the 21st, the DPR must be brought to Plenary," he said because, he continued, the entire process of the mechanism in the DPR had to be completed in no more than 21 days until the Level II decision was made at the Plenary Meeting.

"In principle, we have 21 days, so it's impossible to pass the 21st (November), yes. But before that, maybe," he said.

For this reason, he asked the public to wait for the exact date of the schedule for the fit and proper test for the candidate for the Commander of the TNI because the process mechanism is currently still rolling out at the discussion at the DPR Deliberative Body (Bamus). "Fit and proper test is awaited, and the assignment has not yet reached Commission I, it is still in Bamus," he said. He also dismissed public concerns regarding the potential for neutrality of TNI General Agus Subiyanto as the sole candidate for TNI Commander if later he was elected in guarding the 2024 General Election, because he had served as Commander of Kodim (Danddim) 0735/Surakarta when the President of the Republic of Indonesia Jokowi became Mayor of Surakarta. "No, later it will also be crowded, who chooses the DPR faction. So God willing, because later the fit and proper will be carried out by the entire faction.
