Targeted To Operate At The End Of Next Year, Here Are A Series Of Functions Of IKN VVIP Airport

YOGYAKARTA President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has just conducted a groundbreaking or laying of the first stone for the very-very import person airport (VVIP) construction project in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN). The location of this airport is 15 kilometers adrift of the IKN government center.

VVIP IKN Airport is built on an area of 7,000 square meters and has a runway measuring 3000x45 meters. The airport is targeted to be fully operational by December 2024.

"By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this morning I declare that the groundbreaking of Nusantara Capital Airport will begin," said President Jokowi at IKN, Wednesday, September 1, 2023.

2. Support mobility in IKN

During the groundbreaking event, President Jokowi said that the construction of the IKN airport was very pentung because it could support mobility at IKN. Moreover, there are more and more activities at IKN.

"The presence of this airport is very important considering the increasing number of activities at IKN. The more people's mobility and also goods to and from IKN," said Jokowi.

Furthermore, IKN VVIP airport will be a special airport to support connectivity in the new capital city.

"IKN Airport is a special airport that is used to support government service activities at IKN," said Jokowi.

2. Increase competitiveness and encourage economic growth

According to President Jokowi, the presence of a special airport at IKN will increase competitiveness in the capital city of Nusantara in the future.

"In the future, this airport will make the IKN area more open to connectivity, better and easier to reach from anywhere. I am sure that this IKN airport will increase competitiveness, encourage economic growth, and encourage the development of potential in the regions and accelerate IKN development," said Jokowi.

3. Serve a large-bodied plane

It has been mentioned above that IKN VVIP Airport will have a runway measuring 3000x45 meters. This means that this airport can serve large-bodied aircraft such as the Boeing 777-300 ER and Airbus A380.

It's not enough to stop there, this airport will also be equipped with a helipad that can accommodate three helicopters.

The VVIP IKN Airport apron can also accommodate three large-body aircraft and one small-bodied aircraft. If only small-bodied aircraft, this airport can accommodate seven aircraft.

In terms of facilities, IKN VVIP Airport is equipped with GSE parking, air side checkpoints, guard posts, hangers, cargo, catering, DPPU, pump houses, STP & WTP, powe house substations, and maintenance workshops/GSE workshops.

Places of worship, offices, quarantine buildings, canteens, official residences, TPS, meteorology, EOC, PKP PK, powe house, PLN substation, and ATC Tower were also provided.

4. Serving the interests of the government

Based on Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 2023 concerning the Acceleration of Construction and Operation of Very Very Important Airport Persons to Support the Capital City of the Archipelago, special airports at IKN are used to serve the interests of the government in the capital city of the archipelago.
