The Case Of Rocky Gerung Entering Investigation, Bareskrim Sends A Team To Several Regional Police To Complete Evidence

The Directorate of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri will send a team to several regional police officers regarding the handling of cases of alleged spreading false news involving Rocky Gerung as reported. The goal is to collect evidence.

"The follow-up plan, the team will be sent immediately, either to North Sumatra, East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, Jogja, or later to the Metro Police, where it is to complete the evidence or investigations that are adjusted to the results we obtained during the investigation at Bareskrim," said the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro to reporters quoted on Tuesday, October 31.

The team was enlivened because the case of the alleged spread of fake news was previously handled at the regional police level until it was finally withdrawn entirely to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

After various evidences from several regional police have been obtained, the investigative team will adjust to the construction of the case and the articles allegedly violated by Rocky Gerung.

"This week, maybe under the leadership of Mr. Wadir, we will send members to coordinate with local investigators," he said.

While waiting for the collection process, investigators will also examine witnesses and experts, including Rocky Gerung as reported.

When it is completely completed, the investigator will carry out a case title. The goal is to determine the suspect in the case.

"After carrying out the investigation effort, we will immediately carry out (the case) to determine the suspect," said Djuhandhani.

The status of the alleged case of spreading fake news with reported Rocky Gerung has been upgraded to the investigation stage.

The increase in status to investigation is known based on the Notice of Investigation Commencement (SPDP) received by the Attorney General's Office (AGO) on October 17.

Some of Rocky Gerung's remarks or statements that were questioned and reported in the alleged spread of fake news and hate speech, among others.
