KLHK Strengthens Local Government Integration Handling TPA Fires

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) stated that it has worked in an integrated and integrated manner with local governments in dealing with fires that occurred in various final disposal sites or waste workers.

"Manggal agni, whose duties have been in forest areas or outside forest areas, Mrs. Minister of Environment and Forestry, have ordered to be integrated with teams in BPBD, both provinces and districts, and to work professionally," said KLHK Secretary General Bambang Hendroyono as reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 30.

The manggala agni team is currently trying to extinguish the fire that broke out at the Rawa Cat TPA, Tangerang, Banten.

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry emphasized that Manggala agni should continue to be connected to all stakeholders so that fire fighting activities can take place quickly.

Bambang appealed to local governments to grow awareness of switching from TPAopen dumping management to sanitary landfill to overcome fires that occur in landfill landfills.

"From the policy side, there is only awareness of everything related to stakeholders to learn from this experience. Integrity to implement the provisions needs to be strengthened," he said.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded that as many as 14 fire incidents where the final waste disposal occurred from June to October 2023.

BNPB stated that the most optimal step to extinguish the TPA fire was to drop water bombs by helicopter and carry out weather modification technology.
