JAKARTA - One of the two men who had been missing at sea for nearly two weeks, was found safe by Canadian fishermen in a rescue raft in Canadian waters last Thursday, about 70 miles northwest of Cape Flattery, Washington, according to US Coast Guard spokesman Steve Strohmaier.
"The fact that he was in this rescue raft for several days, still hopes and is finally found by a random fishing boat is a remarkable and magical thing," Strohmaier told CNN by telephone, as quoted October 30.
"The sea is a very large place. He is adrift in my stomach. Often, it is very rare for ships to pass by," he continued.
He explained that the coast guard had been notified of a missing fishing vessel. The ship left Washington beach on October 12 and was rescheduled for October 15.
"They departed Westport, Washington. They were rescheduled for 15 and a week later, the Coast Guard was notified," Strohmaier said.
Last Tuesday, the US Coast Guard posted about a search for a missing ship on X, saying "USCG searched for a 43-foot-high Evening ship with 2 people on board, which departed from Grays Harbor on October 12 and reportedly intends to return on October 15".
On Wednesday, the service said it had halted its search "waiting the development of new information" after "the crew conducted a search in more than 14,000 square miles for more than 8 hours."
After the discovery, the fishing boat reported to the Canadian Coast Guard, then the man was taken to the beach for later to the hospital. He was reportedly in a stable condition on his way to the hospital.

The US Coast Guard said one person was still missing and an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
"We are waiting to hear more information to be collected along with eyewitness reports and statements from him (the person found), to determine what action we can take in the future, or may be taken over by the Canadian Coast Guard," Strohmaier explained when asked if it would continue the search for the missing sailors.
