2 Indian Citizens Who Travel Around Jakarta Looking For Orphanage Donations Deported

JAKARTA - Class I Immigration Special for Non-Immigration Checkpoints (TPI) West Jakarta (Jakbar) plans to deport two foreign nationals (WNA) from India with the initials NPS (36) and KPS (57) for abusing the residence permit for visits to become donors in the capital city and its surroundings.

"The vision is a visit, but in fact they are looking for donations with various modes," said Head of the West Jakarta Special Class I Immigration Office, Wahyu Eka, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 26.

The two foreigners usually carry out actions asking for donations from the public in exchange for providing predictions about romance, household chores and so on.

"They received ordinary money of around Rp. 50,000 to Rp. 100. The reason will later be donated to orphanages in India," said Wahyu.

Then, Wahyu said, on Tuesday (17/10), the two foreigners were caught by officers around Jl. Mangga Besar I is practicing predicting and collecting a sum of money with a donation mode for orphans in India.

"When they were arrested by officers, both of them did not fight back," said Wahyu.

Wahyu said the action followed complaints from residents previously to the West Jakarta Immigration office, Taman Sari regarding the actions of the two foreigners.

"After the examination, both of them entered Indonesia using a visit visa on arrival or 'Visa on Arrival' (VOA) with a validity period of 30 days through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta on October 9, 2023," Wahyu said.

He also mentioned that they admitted to carrying out their actions around shops in several areas of West Jakarta.

"They can collect Ro400 thousand to Rp750 thousand from the proceeds of asking for donations in exchange for predictions to the money giver," said Wahyu.

In addition, Wahyu said, the two admitted that they had been doing this act since 2022.

Officers confiscated several pieces of evidence including two Indian national passports in the name of KPS and NPS, two VOA stickers, cash amounting to Rp1,260,000, business cards, equipment for predicting in the form of (cards and agates), photos of orphanages and three cell phone units.

"Both of them are suspected of violating Law No. 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration Article 122 letter (a) so that those concerned can be subject to 'Action of Immigration Administration' in the form of deportation and deterrence," Wahyu said.

Wahyu asked the public if they found such an obscure foreigner, they would immediately report to the nearest Immigration.

This, he continued, is so that it can be dealt with early so that it does not harm the community.

While in Indonesia, he added, the two of them live in a hotel in the Senen District, Central Jakarta.

"We both acted with deportation or repatriated them to their home country. The plan is next week, now everything is in process," said Wahyu.
