PDIP: Gibran's Membership Ends After Officially Registering As Prabowo's Vice Presidential Candidate

Gibran Rakabuming Raka fulfills the call of the PDIP/PDIP DPP

Gibran Rakabuming Raka is no longer a PDI-P cadre (PDIP). This is because he has registered as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) from the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) accompanying Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). This was conveyed by the Chairman of the Honorary Division of the PDIP DPP Komarudin Watubun in response to Gibran's advancement with Prabowo. This pair is known to have registered with the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Wednesday, October 25. "De facto ke membership Gibran di PDI Perjuangan telah berakhir setelah pendaftarannya secara resmi menjadi cawapres dari KIM," kata Komarudin melalui keterangan tertulisnya, Kamis, 26 Oktober. Komarudin asked all parties not to be excited. "In party organizations, leaving, moving, stopping are normal things," he said. Even so, Komarudin said Gibran was a cadre who was not straight with the party's instructions to support the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD pair. However, PDIP admits that there is no problem with this. "One cadre came out, there are many new party cadres who have the potential to join the party and TPN Ganjar-Mahfud," he said. Komarudin hopes that this incident can open the public's eyes when choosing a leader in the future. "If you want to be compared to fellow vice presidential candidates, who doubts Prof. Mahfud MD with his educational background, integrity, experience, and character," he said. "So just be calm and optimistic. Keep working and go down," continued the member of the DPR RI.

Previously reported, Gibran officially registered with Prabowo to the KPU. He advanced with the support of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, which consisted of nine parties including the Gerindra Party, the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), and a number of other parties including the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). The couple has submitted the completeness of the files to the KPU. The day after, they have also carried out health checks at the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, Jakarta.
