Ganjar Calls The Key To Increasing Taxes Is Law Enforcement

JAKARTA - Ganjar Pranowo's presidential candidate (candidate) said that one of the efforts to increase state revenue from taxes is to apply legal enforcement certainty to entrepreneurs and investors.

"Talking about state revenue, then we talk about taxes. The key is law enforcement," said Ganjar after attending the US-Indonesia Investment Summit 2023 in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 24.

According to him, currently the tax ratio is still low and can be improved by making it easier for investors or entrepreneurs to pay their obligations to the state.

The government, said Ganjar, should not scare taxpayers. The President will have a special panel in supervising state revenues.

The potential of state revenue in terms of business, both from SOEs, he continued, is from national companies or foreign companies and so on. He emphasized again that the key is to control illegal things, increase anti-corruption values, and increase integrity.

"Illegal ini harus jadi legal, sehingga memberikan pendapatan bagi negara," ujarnya.

Ganjar Pranowo was invited as a speaker at the 2023 UI-Invesment Summit. In the 2024 presidential election, Ganjar is paired with Mahfud MD. The candidate pair Ganjar-Mahfud has also registered with the Indonesian KPU Office and conducted a health test as a candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. In addition, candidate pairs can also be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
