DKI Expands Emission Tests To Make It Easier For People To Check Vehicles

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Air Pollution Control Task Force (PPU Task Force) expands access to emission tests to make it easier for people to check their vehicles.

The DKI Jakarta Environment Agency (DLH) in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) to provide emission test technicians training in Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi.

"Of the 234 workshops, 140 workshops already have test equipment (emissions) so that the people of Botabek (Bogor, Tangerang, Bekasi) are easier to get emission test services," said spokesman for the DKI Jakarta PPU Task Force Ani Ruspitawati when confirmed in Jakarta, Saturday.

The training which took place from August 22 to October 11, 2023 involved a total of 449 participants from 234 workshops, and eight Provincial and Regency/City Environment Agencys (DLH) in West Java and Banten.

"We invite all vehicle owners in Jabotabek to take part in the emission test," said Ani.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has again imposed a ticket for vehicles that have not or did not pass the emission test together with Polda Metro Jaya in early November 2023.

"Regarding the emission test ticket, coordination has been carried out with the Ditlantas and the plan is that in early November the emission test ticket will be carried out again in several locations," said DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Air Pollution Control Task Force Spokesperson Ani Ruspitawati at a press conference at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Friday (6/10).

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya stopped the ticketing for emission tests because it was burdensome for the community and prioritized persuasive and educational methods so that residents routinely take care of vehicles. So as to produce exhaust gases that do not cause air pollution.

However, Ani said that now her party has communicated with the Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya regarding the application of the emission test ticket.

As of October 20, 1,152,942 four-wheeled vehicles and 123,090 two-wheeled vehicles had carried out emission tests.

The emission test site is available in 340 workshops for four-wheeled vehicles with 946 technicians and 114 workshops for two-wheeled vehicles as many as 195 technicians spread across various areas of Jakarta.
