JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo left for the country after carrying out a series of visits for 3 days in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Garuda Indonesia (GIA-1) aircraft carrying the President and his delegation took off via King Khalid International Airport today at around 13.55 local time (WS) or 18.00 WIB.
Also releasing the President's departure to the country, namely the Governor of Riyadh Pangeran Faisal bin Bandar Al-Saud, the Mayor of Riyadh Pangeran Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf Al Muqrin, the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Al-Budai, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Amudi, the Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Abdul Aziz Ahmad and his wife, and the Defense Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh Brigadier General Putut Witjaksono Hadi and his wife.
The President and his entourage are expected to arrive at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, Saturday morning.
Also accompanying President Jokowi on a flight to the country, namely Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, SOE Minister Erick Thohir, and Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo.
While in Saudi Arabia, one of the activities attended by President Jokowi was the ASEAN-GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) Summit.
The President said that the first meeting between ASEAN and GCC, which was held under the chairmanship of Indonesia, had an important meaning that Indonesia, ASEAN, and GCC still chose to increase cooperation in the midst of a increasingly divided world.
"One of the discussions related to Palestine and 16 ASEAN-GCC member states agreed to seek to stop violence, full access to humanitarian support, and reaffirmed the commitment to a two-state solution so that the two countries could coexist peacefully," said the President in a statement posted on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, Friday.
In addition, First Lady Iriana also held a bilateral meeting with Princess Sara, the wife of the Prime Minister (PM) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al-Saud. According to the President, the First Lady was very friendly and warm.
"This is something that is unusual. The information I received, Princess Sara almost never received the wife of the head of state from other countries. This means that I see that relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia are getting closer and closer, the longer the better," said the President.
