Maluku Dobo District Court Rejects Pretrial Of TIP Suspects

ARU - Judge of the Dobo District Court (PN), Aru Islands Regency, rejected all pretrial lawsuits filed by the suspect in the alleged Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) case, Morest Anton Beruat alias MAB. "All of the suspect's lawsuits filed through his attorney, Gasandi Renfaan SH, were rejected by the Dobo District Court Judge after going through a series of pretrial hearings from 9-13 October 2023 with the reading of the verdict on October 16, 2023," said Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Police, Kombes M. Roem Ohoirat in Ambon, Antara, Tuesday, October 17. For the pretrial hearing, the Dobo District Court Judge rejected the lawsuit filed by the applicant in this case the TIP suspect in its entirety, in a pretrial against the Aru Islands Police Chief, AKBP Dwi Bachtiar Rivai represented by the Maluku Police Legal Division and the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Aru Islands Police. There were several lawsuits filed by the suspect through his attorney, Gasandy Renfaan SH, against the Aru Islands Police Chief, including the determination of the person concerned as a suspect, arrest, detention as well as requests for compensation and rehabilitation. "All the petitioners rejected by the judge because all the lawsuits filed according to the judge had complied with the procedure," said Roem. With the judge's decision, the former Aru Islands Police Chief emphasized that the actions taken by investigators in determining the applicant as a suspect, arresting, detaining, are legal based on law. "So the Aru Islands Police in terms of handling the TIP case that ensnared suspect Morest Anton Beruat alias Obud, has been carried out in accordance with applicable legal provisions and regulations, and then investigators will complete the case file to be submitted to the prosecutor," he said.

Previously, the Aru Islands Police had named six suspects in the TIP case at a nightclub in Dobo City, Maluku, which was revealed by the Aru Pada Police Chief (3/10/2023). Determination of the suspect, five people came from NP karaoke and one owner of karaoke Ad. For NP karaoke with the initials AM, KS, MJ, AL and RWK, while Karaoke Ad with the initials MAB.
