JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Melchias Markus Mekeng did not know anything about the rumors that Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka would join his party after the Constitutional Court (MK) decision. There is news that Gibran will visit the headquarters of the banyan party this afternoon. "I know it's just the issue from the media. I don't know where the media got it from," said Mekeng when contacted, Tuesday, October 17. Including information, Gibran will go to the Golkar Party DPP at 17.00 WIB later. "I don't know," he said. According to Mekeng, so far there has been no discussion regarding Gibran's information about joining Golkar. However, he said, Golkar was open if President Jokowi's eldest son wanted to join. "We haven't had a meeting yet. We should have a meeting later. (But) Golkar opens the door for everyone, not only Gibran, anyone can also join," said Mekeng. Regarding Gibran, still a PDIP cadre, Mekeng assessed, Gibran has his own political rights. "Yes, he has his rights too. He wants to enter, he wants to get out his individual rights. He enters which party, changes which party, that's his individual right, and no one can prohibit it, right?," he said.

"So yes, for Golkar, whoever wants to enter, go ahead, not just Gibran. Who do you want, the important thing is that the vision and mission are the same, the ideology is the same, you know," added Mekeng.
