JAMBI - Police arrested a perpetrator carrying six victims of human trafficking (TIP). The victims will be sent from Kerinci, Jambi to Malaysia.

"Together with the Kerinci Police, the team found that a perpetrator was carrying six TIP victims who were about to depart from area of origin Kerinci, to Malaysia," said Head of Public Relations of the Jambi Police, Police Commissioner Mulia Prianto in Jambi, Thursday 12 October, as reported by Antara.

Mulia said that prospective Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) from Kerinci would be sent to Malaysia via travel carried by a migrant worker agent or illegal captain with the initials L (47).

The disclosure incident occurred on Tuesday 10 October at around 20.45 WIB. The Kerinci Police Satreskrim Police Operations Unit stopped a white minibus, which was suspected of transporting victims of human trafficking who were to be taken to Malaysia.

The victims were departed by air via the airport in West Sumatra. The car carrying the six victims was stopped on the road in Lubuk Nagodang Village, Siulak District, Kerinci Regency, Jambi.

Found in the transport car were five women and one man who were to be sent and employed in Malaysia by L.

The five women are planned to be employed as household assistants. Meanwhile, another victim, a man, will be employed as a cleaner with a salary of at least RM 1,500 per month or the equivalent of IDR 4 million.

The process of departing prospective migrant workers was declared illegal because it was without legality and permission from the relevant services and was carried out individually.

"The victim was promised a job in Malaysia, and the perpetrator would deduct 4 months' salary," he said.

The perpetrator was immediately detained for further questioning. The police also brought evidence, namely five of the victim's passports, a cell phone, four Padang-Malaysia departure tickets and a Kerinci-Padang travel ticket.
