JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto said drug trafficking was increasingly prevalent, especially towards the end of the year. This is because there are still many people who use narcotics as 'complete' during New Year's celebrations.

"How much drug trafficking, especially before the new year, is widely used as a complement that is not true to carry out New Year celebration activities," said Karyoto, Wednesday, October 11.

However, Polda Metro Jaya will continue to eradicate drug trafficking. However, in the process, cooperation from all parties is needed.

"All the time we will be firm and committed to eradicating drug trafficking, because we must fight drugs together," he said.

"Of course we as law enforcers who have specialities reveal that illicit drug trafficking cannot work alone, we hope stakeholders to unite in collaborating in preventing or eradicating drug trafficking," continued Karyoto.

Polda Metro Jaya destroyed hundreds of kilograms of methamphetamine and marijuana and 60,000 ecstasy pills. Narcotics is evidence of the disclosure of cases during July to September 2023.

"As for the evidence that will be destroyed today, the following is marijuana weighing 200.67 kg, shabu 279.44 kg, and ecstasy 60,800 pills," said Karyoto.

The destruction and eradication of drugs, said Karyoto, is a follow-up to the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). This is because narcotics are the destroyer of the nation's future.

"Eradication of drug trafficking on a large scale is a step by the National Police through the Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Task Force as a follow-up to the President's direction in a limited meeting at the state palace regarding the rampant drug cases in Indonesia," said Karyoto.
