Medan Vice Mayor: Ranperda Incentives Become Stimulus For Investors

MEDAN - Deputy Mayor of Medan Aulia Rachman conveyed that the Medan City Ranperda on Incentives and Ease of Investment is a stimulus for investors investing in the capital city of North Sumatra.

"Providing incentives or convenience has indeed had an impact on regional finances, especially the provision of relief or tax exemptions," Aulia said in a plenary meeting of the regional head's answer note to the Medan City Ranperda on Incentives and Ease of Investment in Medan as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 10.

This incentive provision, he continued, is one of the strategies that will be implemented by the Medan City Government in overcoming reduced regional financial burdens.

The deputy mayor explained that in principle the provision of facilities or ease of investment would be given in accordance with regional financial capabilities.

Data from the Medan City Manpower Office in 2022 states that the open unemployment rate in Medan City in August 2022 is around 8.89 percent from the previous 10.81 percent in August 2021.

"We hope that this program will have an impact on increasing investment, which is directly proportional to improving the regional economy, so that the number of workers will increase," said Aulia in a plenary meeting chaired by the Chairman of the Medan City DPRD Hasyim with Deputy Chairperson Rajudin Sagala and Teuku Bahrumsyah.

In addition, said Aulia again, the Medan City Government will also ask the central government for incentives for the investment achievements obtained for the implementation of this regional budget.

The deputy mayor revealed that so far, the security, comfort and long order of the bureaucracy have been an obstacle, both domestic and foreign investors.

"Lalu peraturan sering berubah, ketersediaan bahan baku serta tidak ada stimulus insentif merupakan faktor penghambat investor tidak berinvestasi di Kota Medan," ungkapnya.

"Therefore, the Medan City Ranperda on Incentives and Ease of Investment is a stimulus in restoring investor confidence in investing in Medan City," said Aulia.

Medan City DPRD member Dhiyaul Hayati hopes that the Medan City Ranperda on Providing Incentives and Ease of Investment can have a positive impact on increasing investors in the Medan City area.

"This regional regulation can have a positive impact in the form of increasing investment," said Dhiyaul.
