President Jokowi Orders Minister Hadi To Immediately Resolve Land Disputes

PADANG - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Hadi Tjahjanto said President Jokowi advised to immediately resolve land disputes in Indonesia.

"Mr. President told me to immediately resolve the most basic people's problems, namely disputes and land conflicts and must be fast," said Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Hadi Tjahjanto in Tanah Datar Regency as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 10.

After receiving the President's order, Minister Hadi immediately gathered the director generals at ATR/BPN to study agrarian problems in Indonesia. One of the crucial problems is related to customary land for indigenous legal communities that cannot be executed.

"At that time I asked to be immediately studied and executed. Three months later, the Regent of Tanah Datar faced me, one of which was the problem of customary land," he said.

At that time, Hadi admitted that there was no picture of how to realize the customary land certificate in Tanah Datar Regency. However, he promised to finish it immediately.

"Today I am present in Tanah Datar Regency, and this is a rare event because this is the first time the state has submitted a HPL certificate for customary land for indigenous peoples," he explained.

Hadi emphasized that the problem or dispute of customary land in Indonesia must be resolved immediately. This is because the state is obliged to protect and guarantee the right to land for indigenous peoples, and protect the preservation of the land.

That way, in the future there will be no more land mafias playing on customary land belonging to indigenous law communities. Including no more issuance of rights for overlapping businesses or overlapping with customary land.

Meanwhile, Tanah Datar Regent Eka Putra expressed his gratitude to Minister Hadi Tjahjanto for fulfilling his promise to curb or resolve the problem of customary land in the district.

He said the submission of the certificate was a pilot project for other regions in Indonesia that have customary land.
