Air Quality In Batam Is Not Healthy, DLH: Use Masks, Especially Elderly And Pregnant Women

BATAM - The Environment Agency (DLH) conveyed that the air quality in Batam City is categorized as unhealthy. This is based on data on the air polluting standard index or ISPU.

According to the Head of Environmental Protection, DLH Batam IP City, on Sunday, October 8 at 08.00 WIB, the ISPU figure in Batam City was recorded at 130 or in the unhealthy category.

"Hopefully the ISPU number can fall again below 100, moderate category," said IP in Batam, Riau Islands (Kepri), Sunday, October 8, which was confiscated by Antara.

He appealed to residents to wear masks when doing outdoor activities during unhealthy air quality.

"Use masks for outside activities, especially for those at high risk, have asthma, the elderly, children, pregnant women," he said.

On Saturday 7 October, the air quality in Batam was also included in the unhealthy category with the ISPU 111 number.

Air quality in a place is categorized as good if the ISPU number is in the range of 1 to 50. Areas with moderate air quality have ISPU figures in the range of 51 to 100. Air quality is categorized as unhealthy if the ISPU number is in the range of 101 to 200.
