Police Detain Padang Pariaman DPRD Member Related To Hit And Run Case

Padang Pariaman Police Traffic Unit, West Sumatra, detained a DPRD member with the initials JB for allegedly hitting the run of a nine-year-old child in Nagari Kurai Taji, Nan Sababris District, Tuesday (3/10).

"The victim is a 9 year old student, he bounced 25 meters," said Head of Traffic Unit of Padang Pariaman Police AKP Hendri through the Head of Gakkum Ipda Novrialdi in Parik Malintang, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 5.

He said the victim was taken to a hospital in Pariaman but his life could not be saved due to a strong collision.

The incident began when the Toyota Avanza Minibus driven by JB drove from Lubuk Alung, Padang Pariaman, to Pariaman City at high speed.

Arriving at the accident site, he said, the victim crossed the road when JB crossed, resulting in an accident that caused the death toll.

After the accident, he explained, JB fled so that residents tried to catch up, unfortunately the effort was fruitless.

However, it turned out that the license plate of the perpetrator's vehicle was left at the accident site, after being examined by the police, it was discovered that the car was a rental vehicle.

"After we went to the owner, it was discovered that the car was rented by the perpetrator named JB, who is a member of the Padang Pariaman Regency DPRD," he said.

After getting the identity of the perpetrator, his party together with the local Korong guardian visited JB's house. However, it is suspected that he will release the law, he continued, that the car was brought by his son.

"We were suspicious of the perpetrator's answer, we continued to interrogation until finally the perpetrator admitted that he was the one who hit and run," he said.

Because of this incident, he said, the perpetrators were subject to the Traffic Law Article 310 paragraph 4 with a threat of 6 years in prison.

The police appealed to motorists and residents to increase their vigilance on the highway to reduce the potential for traffic accidents.
