Great Fire In Rejang Lebong, 16 Houses Scorched In Fire

REJANG LEBONG - The fire scorched 16 houses belonging to residents in Curup City, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province, on Wednesday, October 3 night.

"This fire scorched eight rented houses or partners, then eight semi-permanent housing units," said Head of the Rejang Lebong Regency Fire Department, Fery Najamudin, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 5.

"There were no casualties, and the amount of losses is still being calculated," he said.

According to him, the fire that occurred in Gang Dormitory and Gang Mawar, Jalan Baru Village, Curup District, on Wednesday (4/10) at around 20.40 WIB was successfully extinguished at 23.55 WIB.

He said that 50 officers and seven fire engines were deployed to extinguish the fire that occurred in the densely populated residential area.

According to him, members of the TNI and Polri and local residents also assisted in efforts to extinguish the fire.

Fery stated that it was possible that the fire occurred due to a short circuit in one partner.

Police are still investigating the cause and data on the impact of the fires that occurred in the Curup area.

Head of the Public Relations Section of the Rejang Lebong Police, Iptu Sinar Simanjuntak, said that the location of the fire incident had been fitted with police lines and the police had asked eyewitnesses for information regarding the fire incident.

Based on information from residents, he said, the fire initially emerged from Ediartoni's partner's house and then quickly grew and spread to seven other groups and residents' houses around him.

"Residents around the scene at that time had tried to extinguish the fire by taking water from the mosque in the area and water from the irrigation canal using the help of a water pump, but the fire had grown so that it was difficult to extinguish it," said Iptu Sinar Simanjuntak.
