Investigating the Death of Brigadier Setyo Herlambang, Criminal Investigation Agency Checks Cell Phones

JAKARTA - The Police Criminal Investigation Agency assistance team checked Brigadier Setyo Herlambang's cellphone to uncover the mystery of his death. So far, the personal bodyguard of North Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya has died allegedly due to negligence when cleaning a firearm (senpi).

"Yes, cellphones too, cellphones are being checked, they are already in process. This uses a password, OK? We will convey it later", said Head of Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, quoted on Wednesday, October 4.

The investigative team, Indonesian Center for Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (Pusinafis), and Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) are said to be investigating Brigadier Setyo Herlambang's cell phone. The investigation into the communication tools is to look for evidence that can strengthen the suspicion about his death.

Apart from that, the Police Criminal Investigation Agency assistance team has also examined 14 witnesses. The majority of them are National Police members who know about the death of Brigadier Setyo Herlambang.

"There are 13 members of the National Police and 1 PHL. Once again, this is still at the investigation stage", he said

Previously, the Police Criminal Investigation Agency assistance team also completed examining two CCTV recordings. As a result, no one else was found who entered Brigadier Setyo Herlambang's room.

"The results of CCTV analysis from before the incident until the incident occurred, from CCTV, no other people entered", said Ramadhan.

Then, a series of fingerprint and DNA tests were also carried out. The aim is as additional evidence to reveal the true facts behind the death of Brigadier Setyo Herlambang.

"(Test) Fingerprints and DNA results, the DNA was taken in the magazine section, then the rifle was at the crime scene. While it is being processed, the DNA results are to be confirmed with the fingerprints at the crime scene. This will take 10-14 days. next day", said Ramadhan.

Brigadier Setyo Herlambang was found dead in the room at the official residence of the North Kalimantan Regional Police Chief in Tanjung Selor, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan, Friday 22 September, at around 13.10 WITA.

The results of the interim investigation show that the cause of Brigadier Setyo Herlambang's death was due to negligence when cleaning the firearm.
