BMKG Estimates Air Temperature In Semarang Reaches 37-38 Degrees Celsius During October 2023

JATENG - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts air temperature in Semarang City and its surroundings to reach an average of 37-38 degrees Celsius which will last during October 2023.

The Coordinator for Climatology and Information at the BMKG Central Java Climatology Station, Iss Widya Harmoko, explained that the hot temperature was experienced in the Central Java region, due to the apparent movement of the sun.

He explained that the apparent movement of the sun is a routine cycle that occurs every year, and climatologically the temperature will tend to increase.

"Currently the sun seems to be moving south. Later, around the beginning of October the sun will be at the culmination point right above Java Island," he said in Semarang, Tuesday, October 3, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, the peak of high air temperature is estimated to be around the middle until the end of October, and will fall again starting next November.

"The peak is around mid to late months (October) and has dropped again from November. It is estimated that the temperature in Central Java to October will range from 37-38 degrees Celsius," he said.

Based on BMKG data, the highest heat temperature was recorded in the Central Java region in 2015, reaching 39.5 degrees Celsius and in 2019 with temperatures reaching 39.4 degrees Celsius.

Previously, BMKG also predicted that the start of the rainy season in the Central Java region in general would occur in November 2023.

"The beginning of the rainy season is generally predicted to be one to three bases slower than normal," said Head of Central Java BMKG Climatology Station Sukasno.

However, he continued, there were several areas in Central Java that entered the rainy season at the very beginning of October 2023.

Some of the areas that entered the rainy season at the earliest included some of Pekalongan, Batang, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, Wonosobo, Pemalang, Kendal, and Temanggung regencies.

Meanwhile, the peak of the rainy season, he continued, is expected to occur in February 2024.
