Work Afternoon To Build IKN, Construction Workers Receive Jokowi's Thanks

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed his gratitude to all construction workers for their dedication to working day and night to build infrastructure for the capital city of the archipelago (IKN).

"Thank you profusely to all workers who are present tonight, who have worked day and night. I know that day and night is right to complete, to realize our capital city of the archipelago," said President Jokowi during a speech at the Nusantara Appreciation Night event, followed from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube in Jakarta, Friday.

The President said IKN is a big job that will realize various public infrastructure, in the form of toll roads, highways, water installations, bridges, government complexes, and other public facilities.

On Thursday, September 21, President Jokowi laid the first stone marking the start of the construction of the 5-star Nusantara Hotel.

In addition, the government has also started the construction process of the Abdi Waluyo Hospital, which was marked by the laying of the first stone by President Jokowi, this morning.

"This morning, the laying of the first stone for the construction of the Indonesian National Team's Training Center has also begun. For football, eight soccer fields will be built," he said.

In addition, on Saturday morning, September 23, Jokowi was also rescheduled to lay the first stone for the construction of a hotel in IKN.

On that occasion, Jokowi also expressed his gratitude to the local community for providing full support for the development of IKN.

"This is a very big job and we hope that next year we can have the August 17 ceremony, the independence ceremony in the capital city of the archipelago," he said.

One of the IKN construction workers, Ujang Nurhikman, felt proud to be part of the IKN development process.

"Sometimes my son likes to ask me, what do you do? And I answer very proudly, my father is working on the IKN project," he said.
