JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ensured that there were no obstacles to securing the U-17 World Cup in November 2023, although at the same time his party was securing the implementation of the 2024 General Election stage.
"Regarding the slice with election activities, we have seen earlier that the schedule for the series of elections in November 2023 may be included in campaign activities but it is still a closed campaign," said Sigit as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 19.
With the closed campaign stage, said Sigit, the National Police can optimally oversee the U-17 World Cup security process.
"Besides us, we will continue to oversee and maintain the ongoing stages of the election," he said.
The National Police Chief emphasized that his party had calculated the strength of the personnel to secure the two important agendas.
"I think we have calculated this and we are ready to secure both activities," said Sigit.
Previously, the National Police Chief met with PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir to discuss the readiness to secure the U-17 World Cup.
Indonesia is the only debutant with the blessing of its status as the host of a total of 24 participating countries.
