JAKARTA - Member of Commission VI DPR RI Gde Sumarjaya Linggih hopes that PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) will become the driving force in the transformation of clean energy in Indonesia in an effort to develop clean energy and new and renewable energy nationally.

"Through collaboration with related parties and the implementation of the best practices in industry, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy, we hope to strive to remain a driving force in the transformation of clean energy in Indonesia," said Gde Sumarjaya Linggih in a statement received in Jakarta, Sunday, September 17.

Demer support, Gde Sumarjaya Linggih's nickname, one of which can be seen from the socialization event which was intensified with the theme "The Role of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk in the Clean and Sustainable Energy Transition Process" at Kerta Winangun Multipurpose Center, Bondalem Village, Tejakula District, Buleleng Regency, Bali Province, Monday (11/9).

He explained that the potential geothermal energy or geothermal heat throughout Indonesia was originally God's gift, because Indonesia was in a ring of fire. However, Sumarjaya added, in its utilization, the potential energy is still not optimal.

"Therefore, we hope that Pertamina Geothermal Energy will be able to socialize itself in the community, so that its presence is understood that geothermal energy is a gift from God that must be utilized and is clean energy," he said.

He also appreciated the sustainability commitment as an important pillar in Pertamina Geothermal Energy's operations as part of the PT Pertamina (Persero) business group through Subholding Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE).

According to Sumarjaya, Pertamina Geothermal Energy upholds environmental and social responsibility by implementing the best practices in managing geothermal energy projects with the theme "Energy Green Future".

"They not only focus on the economic aspect, but also pay attention to the social and environmental impacts of their activities. We really appreciate that," said Sumarjaya.

In addition to contributing to Indonesia's clean energy supply by replacing conventional energy sources, PGE is also considered to have a positive impact in overcoming global climate change through its role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

PGEO's operating area consists of 13 working areas divided into Kamojang, Karaha, Lahendong, Mount Sibualu-Buali, Mount Sibaayak-Sinabung, Sungai Penuh, Hululais, Lumut Balai & Margabayur, Way Panas, Pangalengan, Cibereum-Parabakti, Tabanan, and Seulawah.
