Lampung Police Failed To Smuggle 30 Kg Of Methamphetamine In Bakauheni

BANDAR LAMPUNG - Lampung Regional Police (Polda) thwarted the smuggling of 30 kilograms of methamphetamine at Bakauheni Port, South Lampung Regency.

"We got the 30 kilograms of methamphetamine from two suspects who acted as couriers," said Director of Drug Investigation at the Lampung Police, Kombes Erlin Tangjaya, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, September 14.

He explained that on August 15, 202 officers inspected a Toyota Innova vehicle with police number B 1798 NYZ at Seaport Interdiction at Bakauheni Port, South Lampung because it was suspicious.

"When an inspection was carried out in several parts of the car, 30 kg of methamphetamine was found," he said.

Based on the confessions of the two suspects who were successfully secured by officers, namely MN (23) and MS (36), the illicit goods will be brought to Jakarta.

"The two suspects came from Aceh. The two drug couriers received a reward of Rp. 12 million when they arrived at the location by the customer, where they had received a reward of Rp. 5 million to deliver, the rest would be paid at the location," he said.

Erlin said that with the disclosure of 30 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine worth Rp45 billion, at least 120 thousand human lives were free from the use of these illicit goods.

"Currently, the Lampung Police are still investigating whether the narcotics order comes from prison or not. Meanwhile, for his actions, the perpetrator was charged with multiple articles of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of the death penalty," he said.
