Police Name 4 New Suspects For Resort Destruction In Karangasem Bali

DENPASAR - The Bali Regional Police have again named four new suspects in the case of the destruction of the Delitiga Neano Resort located in Bugbug Village, Karangasem Regency, Bali.

The Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, said that the names of four suspects with the initials INKA, IWW, NWS and NMS were based on the development of the alleged resort destruction case.

Jansen said the determination of the suspect was determined on Monday, September 11, 2023.

Based on the examination of six witnesses and followed by a case title, the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Bali Police concluded that four of these witnesses met the criminal element.

The four of them were involved in the criminal act of destroying the Detigane Resort Bugbug, Karangasem on August 30, 2023.

"Based on the results of the examination and the investigation, investigators have again named four suspects. Currently, the suspects are under investigation at the Bali Police Ditreskrimum accompanied by their attorneys," said Jansen, Tuesday, September 12.

Thus, the number of residents who have been named suspects by the Bali Police has become 13 people after previously there were nine suspects.

Dozens of residents who have been detained by the Bali Police have different roles, both entering the yard without permission, damaging and burning property belonging to Detiga Neaono so that they fulfill the criminal element of Article 187 of the Criminal Code concerning criminal acts of burning, Article 170 of the Criminal Code, Article 406 of the Criminal Code, Article 167 of the Criminal Code and Article 55 of the Criminal Code.

"13 suspects have been detained at the Bali Police Detention Center for further legal proceedings," said Jansen.

The former Denpasar Police Chief stated that the law enforcement process applies to anyone who is proven to have violated the law. He also asked residents to continue to respect and entrust the legal process to the Bali Police.

According to him, it is possible that there will be new suspects in the case in line with the progress of the investigation carried out by the Bali Police Ditreskrimum investigators.

Previously, on August 30, 2023, a number of residents of Bugbug Karangasem Village, Bali visited the Delitiga Neano Resort. The crowd who refused to build the resort entered the resort area, which is still under construction, damaging a number of facilities and even burning.

Not accepting this, the contractor reported the incident to the Bali Police.
