Tornado Hits South Kalimantan Tapin, Roofs Of Mosques And Residents' Houses Are Heavily Damaged

The tornado that hit Tapin Regency in South Kalimantan (Kalsel) destroyed the roof building of a mosque and the roof of a resident's house.

"Information from the public at 14.30 WITA there has been heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in the area," said Head of the Tapin Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), South Kalimantan, Raniansyah in Rantau, Tuesday, September 12, as reported by Antara.

Raniansyah revealed that this tornado destroyed the roof of the mosque tower in Banua Padang Village and the roof of houses and stalls belonging to residents.

"The roof of the mosque was heavily damaged and the roof of the house as well as a shop for residents was moderately damaged," said Raniansyah.

As a result of this disaster, he said, currently the mosque can still be used by residents for worship. Meanwhile, damage to houses requires residents to evacuate.

"The damage to this house has disrupted people's daily activities and cannot sell," said Raniansyah.

Losses due to the tornado are estimated at tens of millions of rupiah. Currently, the relevant parties are recording for the delivery of aid.

"There is no assistance yet, we will coordinate with the Tapin Social Service," he said.
