The Courier Of Methamphetamine From Deli Serdang Was Charged With 10 Years In Prison

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) charged the defendant Nurhasanah br Ginting alias Nur from Deli Serdang Regency with 10 years in prison in a case of 17 grams of methamphetamine-type narcotics courier.

"Requesting the panel of judges to impose a sentence of 10 years, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison," said Public Prosecutor Sri Delyanti at the Medan District Court as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, September 7.

He assessed that the defendant's actions violated as the primary indictment, Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

Namely, without rights or against the law offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries in buying and selling, exchanging, or handing over narcotics class I instead of plants weighing more than five grams, namely 17 grams.

"Meanwhile, the aggravating thing is that the defendant's actions hindered the government's program in eradicating drugs, the defendant was convicted in 2016 and 2021," said Sri Delyanti.

As for mitigating matters, the defendant Nurhasanah was not convoluted in providing information and being polite at trial.

After reading the memorandum of demand from the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office, the panel of judges chaired by Arfan Yani continued the trial with the agenda of a memorandum of defense (pledoi) against the defendant's legal adviser next week.

Previously, in the indictment, Public Prosecutor Sri Delyanti said that on June 22, 2023, the defendant met with Akong on Jalan Seroja, Medan Sunggal to give the methamphetamine.

"Akong gave methamphetamine wrapped in green tissue to be given to buyers, with a salary of one gram of Rp50,000," he said.

Furthermore, said Delyanti, the defendant was waiting for a buyer on Jamin Ginting Street, Medan Selayang. Then suddenly the police officers arrested the defendant along with the evidence.
