Pekanbaru Floods, Congestion Is Inevitable

PEKANBARU - A number of road points in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, were flooded. Congestion is unavoidable, one of which is because many vehicles have died due to crossing floods.

Riau Regional Police Chief (Kapolda) Inspector General Pol Mohammad Iqbal appealed to people who are active to be careful on the road because floods make the terrain that is crossed slippery.

"Use radio and other media to monitor which areas are flooded so that they can choose other roads," he said in Pekanbaru, Wednesday, September 6, which was confiscated by Antara.

Pekanbaru Police Chief Kombes Jefri Ronald Parulian Siagian asked the public to reduce activities on the highway. The goal is to avoid unexpected things that can happen on the highway, such as fallen trees and others.

"We urge the public not to drive during heavy rains if there is no urgent need. Especially motorcycle users," said Jefri.

The rain that flushed from Wednesday morning to noon flooded many points in Pekanbaru.

A number of roads that were flooded include Simpangan Harapan Raya, Jalan Arifin Ahmad, Jalan Riau, Simpang Pasar Pagi Arengka, and several locations in Rumbai Pesisir District.
