SOUTH KALIMANTAN - Regional Secretary (Sekda) of South Kalimantan Province (Kalsel) Roy Rizali Anwar stated that the construction of the Kotabaru Sea Island Bridge will resume its implementation in 2024.

"For the continuation of the construction of the Kotabaru Sea Island Bridge, we have had a meeting with the South Kalimantan DPRD, the DPRD and the Kotabaru Regency Government (Pemkab) and Tanah Bumbu Regency (Tanbu)," he said in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Monday, September 4, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the meeting for the continuation of the construction of the Kotabaru Sea Island Bridge involved the South Kalimantan DPRD and the Kotabaru DPRD and Tanbu with their district government to obtain a financing agreement.

"Alhamdulillah, there is an agreement from the provincial government (Pemprov) of Rp. 300 billion, the Kotabaru Regency Government and Tanbu Rp. 100 billion each," he said after the plenary meeting of the South Kalimantan DPRD with the agenda of submitting the 2023 RAPBDP Financial Note.

Regarding the financing, the former Head of the South Kalimantan Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) said there was an increase in the price of a number of building materials.

"Moreover, at first the bridge was only 30 meters wide to 40 meters. This would certainly increase the budget," he said.

Roy hopes that there will be an additional budget for financing the construction of the Kotabaru Sea Island Bridge, which has long been the target of the community, from the central government.

The construction of the Kotabaru Sea Island Bridge has been planned since 2014, but has stalled due to unclear financing.

Meanwhile, from Kotabaru and Tanbu, the framework for the bridge connecting the Sea Island Bridge has been built.

At that time, the construction of the Kotabaru Sea Island Bridge required a budget of IDR 3 trillion with a contribution from the South Kalimantan Provincial Government of IDR 500 billion, while the Kotabaru and Tanbu Regency Governments each had IDR 250 billion.
