Mardani Maming Executed In Sukamiskin Prison Sentenced To 12 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - Former Regent of Tanah Bumbu Mardani H. Maming was executed at the Sukamiskin Correctional Institution (Lapas), Bandung, West Java. He will serve a 12-year sentence in the mining business license bribery case (IUP).

"The KPK Executor Prosecutor has completed carrying out the criminal execution of the body with the convict Mardani H. Maming by entering the person concerned into the Sukamiskin Prison, Bandung," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Monday, September 4.

In addition to corporal punishment, Mardani is also required to pay a fine of Rp. 500 million and a replacement money of Rp. 110.6 billion.

"The execution is as the decision of the Supreme Court," he said.

Previously, the Supreme Court rejected the cassation filed by Mardani Maming. He was still sentenced to 12 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to four months in prison.

Case number: 3741 K/Pid.Sus/2023 was tried by the chairman of the panel of judges Suhadi with members Agustinus Purnomo Hadi and Suharto. The verdict was read out on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.

The verdict is heavier than the demands of the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) at the first level. He was previously sentenced to 10 years and 6 months in prison with a fine of Rp700 million, subsidiary to 8 months and to pay compensation of Rp118 billion, subsidiary to 5 years in prison.

Mardani is believed to have received a gift or gratification from a mining entrepreneur, the former Director of PT Prolindo Cipta Nusantara (PCN) of the late Henry Soetio with a total of no less than Rp118 billion while in office.

This acceptance is related to the issuance of the Tanah Bumbu Regent Decree Number 296 of 2011 concerning approval for the transfer of mining business permits (IUP) OP from PT BKPL to PT PCN.
