SBY Calms Cadres, Calls NasDem And Anies Actions Not Heroes For Democrats

Chairman of the High Council of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono gave directions at the Democratic High Council Session as broadcast at his residence in Puri Cikeas, Bogor/ANTARA/Genta Tenri Mawangi.

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Upper House of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) in the High Council Session calmed the cadres and conveyed that NasDem and Anies Baswedan's steps were not an end to the Democratic Party (PD).

SBY believes that the unilateral cooperation taken by NasDem with PKB and the appointment of PKB General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar as Anies' future vice presidential candidate is God's plan to save the Democratic Party in the future.

"I understand very well, feelings, emotions, cadres. I ask that we calm our hearts, our minds. This is not an end to our struggle, no. We must interpret this as a test and trial that we must face, and we overcome it," said SBY at the Upper House of the Democratic Party at Puri Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 1.

SBY invited the Democratic Party administrators and cadres to be grateful that the crisis they faced did not occur 2 days before the registration limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates at the KPU ended.

"Now imagine, if we are twisted, we will leave us before the 1.2 days limit for the KPU registration. We are still being helped by Allah. We are still saved by history," said Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Then, SBY said that Anies and NasDem's steps actually saved the party, because they did not have to support future dishonest and mandated presidential candidates.

"I think if we think about this, take lessons, we are freed from sins that we may bear if we are still with them and carry someone to become the leader of the Indonesian nation," said SBY.

SBY also cited one paragraph in the Qur'an which reads: "Behind the difficulty there is convenience". He conveyed that to the administrators and cadres while stating he believed the Democrats could find a better way forward to fight for their vision of change and improvement in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

SBY chaired the Democratic High Council Session, accompanied by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, his eldest son who is also the General Chair of the Democrats and Deputy Chair of the High Council, then Andi Alfian Mallarangeng who is the Secretary of the Democratic High Council.

The trial began with the opening by SBY, then the submission of events related to the unilateral steps of NasDem and Anies delivered by Iftitah Sulaiman (Democratic Decision in Team 8 of the Change Coalition), and continued to provide directions to administrators, cadres, and members of the High Council Session.
