Chairman of the Democratic Party Election Winning Body Andi Arief gave his assessment of Anies Baswedan who approved Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin as his companion in the 2024 presidential election.

The former Governor of DKI Jakarta approved the NasDem-PKB political cooperation to carry the Anies-Cak Imin pair. This approval was carried out unilaterally on the initiative of the Nasdem Chairman, Surya Paloh.

"Today, we confirmed the news to Anies Baswedan. He confirmed that the news was true. Democrats were "forced" to accept the decision (fait accompli)," said Secretary General of the Democratic Party Teuku Riefky Harsya in a written statement, Thursday 31 August.
Democrats responded by holding a Party High Council meeting. The meeting agenda is to make the next decision regarding the party's attitude in the Coalition for Amendments to Unity (KPP).
"In accordance with the 2020 Democratic Party's AD/ART, the authority to determine the coalition and vice presidential/vice presidential candidates is determined by the Party's High Council," he said.
