Heru Budi Kaji Proposal Odd Even Applicable 24 Hours

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono admitted that he would review the proposed implementation of the odd-even system to 24 hours to reduce the number of vehicles passing through the capital city.

"Yes, that's a good idea. Hopefully we will review it for 2 to 3 days. I will communicate with the center first," said Heru after testing the Jabodetabek LRT at the Jatimulya LRT Station, Bekasi, Friday, August 25.

In addition, Heru also admitted that he would ask for input from the Ministry of Transportation and the Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya regarding the proposal.

"Later, first coordination with the Regional Police and the Ministry of Transportation," said Heru.

Previously, the Chairman of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ida Maheasy suggested that the implementation of the odd-even system in the capital city be enforced for 24 hours. This is because currently efforts to control air quality are considered not optimal.

Originally, odd-even was applied Monday to Friday with the implementation time starting at 06.00 WIB to 10.00 WIB in the morning. Then, in the afternoon at 16.00 WIB to 21.00 WIB.

"I hope that the local government will immediately evaluate what has been done in a few days. My input if indeed the evaluation is very small, reducing pollution. This odd-even will take effect immediately 24 hours," said Ida.

Ida argues that the implementation of odd-even for 24 hours can be more effective in reducing the number of private motorized vehicles passing through the capital city and reducing pollution more optimally.

Given, the congestion of motorized vehicles in Jakarta, in addition to causing congestion, is also one of the most contributing sources of pollution.

"This odd-even is valid 24 hours so that it can really reduce, because we both hear that the most air pollution is donated by motorized vehicles," said Ida.
