ACEH - Satreskrim Polres Gayo Lues, Aceh Province, is investigating the discovery of a baby boy's body in the Ulu Aih River, Uyem Berring Village, Tripe Jaya District. "The discovery of the baby boy's body is still in the process of being investigated," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Gayo Police, Lues Iptu M Abidinsyah when confirmed from Banda Aceh, Antara, Tuesday, August 22. Abidinsyah said the body of a man was first found by a local resident named Ali Kazmi while fishing at around 15.00 WIB, last Monday. "The baby's body was found in the rocks in the middle of the Ulu Aih River," he said. Abidinsyah said that after the witness saw the baby's body, he immediately returned to the village to report the findings to Pengulu Kampung Pasir, then submitted it to members of the Pospol Tripe Jaya police. "After that, the Terangun Police personnel immediately secured the crime scene (TKP) with the local community," he said. He explained that when he was first found, the position of the baby's body was covered and there were bruises on the forehead which were thought to have been hit by river rocks due to being dragged by the current. Abidinsyah said it was suspected that the baby boy's body was deliberately dumped by his parents into a river that was connected to Blangjerango, Blangkejeren, and Rikit Gaib sub-districts, Gayo Lues Regency.
"It is suspected that his biological mother deliberately dumped him. Because when he was found there was still a umbilical cord on the baby's corpse, and this case is still under investigation," said M Abidinsyah.
