Indonesian Embassy Oslo Reminds Indonesian Citizens In Norway To Participate In The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Oslo took advantage of the moment of the 78th Indonesian Independence Day to remind Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Norway about the importance of voting in the 2024 General Election.

Ad Interim's (KUAI) Business Authority as well as the Head of the Information, Social and Cultural Function of the Indonesian Embassy in Oslo, Hendra Oktavianus, explained that Indonesia is currently at a crossroads leading to Indonesia Gold 2045, therefore Indonesian citizens are asked not to waste the opportunity for voting rights in the 2024 General Election.

"The fate of the nation will be determined by the hands and options in the election. Choose a leader who has a vision, not just a dream," said Hendra, quoted from Antara, Thursday, August 17.

Hendra also reminded to choose a leader who not only has ambition, but has a heart for Indonesia.

According to Hendra, this is because the integrity of democracy and unity must be maintained and maintained.

On the other hand, said Hendra, the celebration of the Indonesian Independence Day is a reminder that independence is the beginning of struggle and not the end.

"In the celebration of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day, we are again reminded that there is still a lot of homework that must be done to continue to advance the nation. And it is the duty of all levels of society to fill our independence," said Hendra.

Meanwhile, Hendra explained that the celebration of the Indonesian Independence Day in Oslo was something that the Indonesian public and diaspora had been waiting for in Norway.

"Seeing the red and white flag span in a country thousands of kilometers from the archipelago and accompanied by the anthem Indonesia Raya is a touching momentum," he said.

As for the ceremony which was held starting at 9 local time, said Hendra, it was attended by 100 Indonesian citizens, Indonesian diaspora, and Friends of Indonesia (FOI) who wore traditional clothes.

"The Indonesian Embassy in Oslo is proud to see the enthusiasm shown by the public and the Indonesian diaspora for the RI Anniversary ceremony, regardless of this activity being held on weekdays, so that many ask for leave or dispensation," he said.

In addition to the ceremony, said Hendra, the Indonesian Embassy in Oslo alan held a festival or Indonesian People's Market on August 26, 2023 as a celebration and promotion of Indonesian culture, and traditional competitions for Indonesian Independence Day.
