SURABAYA - The National Unity Agency and Surabaya City Politics stated that former terrorist convicts (napiters) or deradicalization partners participated in the success of the government's program in the form of the Distribution Movement of 10 Million Red and White Flags. "We invite them to share the Red and White Flag in the neighborhood environment. This activity is an effort to strengthen the sense of nationalism of the deradicalization partners," said the Head of the National Unity and Political Agency (Bakesbangpol) of Surabaya City, Maria Theresia Ekawati Rahayu, in her statement in Surabaya, Thursday, August 17.Yayuk, Maria Theresia's nickname, said that her party had held a joint discussion with the former convict in commemoration of the 78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at Bhinneka Surabaya's House on Wednesday 16 August. According to her, the celebration activity aims to strengthen the friendship rope and participate in the success of the Red and White Flag Distribution Movement. In addition, the municipal government distributed food packages for deradicalization partners. "We invite deradicalization partners starting last year (2022). This is in accordance with a letter from the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) RI that deradicalization partners are invited in the implementation of the independence ceremony," said Yayuk. Through these activities, Yayuk hopes that the deradicalization partners can reunite and socialize with the community, as well as improve their sense of nationalism towards the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). For this reason, he continued, the Surabaya City Government together with the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) and Densus 88 continue to coordinate regarding the conditions of deradicalization partners. Yayuk said that the total deradicalization partners as many as 36 people, including members of the nuclear family, were still serving penalties. Meanwhile, the deradicalization partners who attended the event were 23 people. "So far, the efforts made by the Surabaya City Government together with BNPT and Densus 88 to embrace them so as not to return to terrorist activities, including to the core family," he said.

On the other hand, the Surabaya City Government together with Baznas helped facilitate business activities by providing business capital assistance. "Yesterday we provided capital assistance in the form of a cart for selling. There are also those who have entered the online shopping site belonging to the Surabaya City Government, namely E-Peken," he said. Not only that, Yayuk then explained that the Surabaya City Government through the Surabaya City Population and Civil Registration Service (Disdukcapil) Surabaya City facilitated population administration services (adminduk) for deradicalization partners. "There is something called to be changed to the previous name so we help facilitate through Disdukcapil. Then there are those who do not yet have a marriage certificate and we are trying through related agencies. Then, there are also their children who need education, we also facilitate," he said.
