Different Atmospheres, PAN Believes Prabowo Can Win In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - The National Mandate Party (PAN) responded casually to its support for Prabowo Subianto as referred to as the 2014 Presidential Election Dejavu. Where, there are many political parties that support but do not win. Deputy General Chairperson of PAN Yandri Susanto assessed that this assumption is common in democracy. According to him, this does not reduce his party's belief in returning to support Prabowo running as a presidential candidate (candidate) in 2024. "Usually, the pros and cons of negatives are normal. It remains that each coalition presents the best in front of the people, don't insult each other, don't degrade each other. I think that's okay, it's part of the trigger for us to continue to consolidate to win," said Yandri at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, August 14.

"That there are other parties who say they don't win is something we think is mediocre because there must be pros and cons. So for us it will not reduce our confidence to win," he added.

Moreover, Yandri continued, the political atmosphere this time was different from the 2014 election. According to him, currently Prabowo's chances are very great to win after losing twice against President Joko Widodo. "The atmosphere is different. It's a long way apart from 2014 and 2024. In the past, Pak Prabowo faced the government during the government's coalition time, now Mr. Prabowo is in the government," said Yandri. Then, Yandri added, currently there is an additional power from PKB and Golkar. Where in the 2019 presidential election the two parties supported Jokowi. "And in the past, Mr. Jokowi faced Pak Prabowo, now Mr. Jokowi is not progressing, only Pak Prabowo is the top and most popular now and the highest in his survey. So from our calculations, yes, now is the time for Pak Prabowo to win," he said.

It is known that in the 2014 presidential election, Prabowo-Hatta Radjasa's Red and White Coalition was supported by the Golkar Party and PAN, together with Gerindra, PKS, PPP, and PBB.

On the other hand, his political opponents, namely Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-Jusuf Kalla who was promoted by PDIP together with the NasDem Party, PKB, PKP, and Hanura in the Great Indonesia Coalition managed to win the five-year democratic event, then become Presidents-Vice President for the 2014-2019 period.
