Anies Baswedan Wants To Fight For A Just Indonesia

JAKARTA - The presidential candidate from the Coalition for Change for Unity (KPP) Anies Baswedan expressed his desire to fight for a just Indonesia. "If there is no justice, it is difficult to unite. This is what we want to fight for in Indonesia, a just Indonesia,” he said in a written statement in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, August 13. This affirmation was conveyed by Anies at a healthy road activity held by the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) welcoming the 78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. The activity was attended by thousands of residents of Salatiga City, Central Java, Sunday. Anies advised, Salatiga as the 2nd most tolerant city in Indonesia must always maintain tolerance and unity. However, this can be maintained with justice. "We must always maintain this “ Tollerance, unity can only be maintained if there is a sense of justice, we can only maintain that tolerance if there is a sense of justice," he asserted. In addition, Anies said that the event was not referred to as a leisurely walk but a healthy walk. "We are gathered here for healthy road activities, this is the correct name, don't use the name of a leisurely walk, because the Republic of Indonesia does not need to relax," he said. Anies explained that the ideals of Indonesia's change are needed in many of the problems that are our common challenge, including quality education, affordable food prices, and guaranteed health. Based on the schedule set by the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia, the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to start from October 19 to November 25, 2023. As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
