7 Days Zero, SAR Stops Search For Ship Drivers Whose Tugboats Sinked In South Halmahera

The joint SAR team stopped the search operation for the Mateos Mustam (50), the victim of the sinking of the Modern Putra Samudera LCT ship in the waters of South Halmahera, North Maluku. The search operation was closed after seven days of searching.

"The joint SAR team has tried their best in the search operation but until the seventh day one victim has not been found and declared missing," said Head of Basarnas Ternate Fathur when contacted, Sunday, August 13, confiscated by Antara.

Fathur explained that the joint SAR team had coordinated and put together had also been submitted to relevant agencies as well as ships and fishermen passing through the incident area and if they saw or found victims, they should immediately report to Basarnas.

The joint SAR team has also coordinated with ship agents and the families of the victims who have let go.

In the incident, the LCT Modern Putra ship sank when it was hit by bad weather in the waters of South Halmahera on August 5, as many as six survivors, two people died and one victim was declared missing.

In the accident, the missing victim of Mateos Mustam was a driver of the LCT Modern Putra Samudera ship type tugboat with heavy equipment on the Weda Port route in Central Halmahera to Sorong in West Papua.
