Garut Health Office Checks The Health Of Residents Close To Diphtheria Patients

GARUT - The Health Office (Dinkes) of Garut Regency, West Java, has deployed a health team to check the health of residents who have been known to have close contact or close in the neighborhood where patients are suspected of having contracted the diphtheria. "We have also checked even though there are no symptoms. We also examined all those who were in close contact," said Head of the Garut District Health Office Leli Yuliani when contacted by reporters in Garut, Antara, Monday, August 7. Garut Health Office has received information that one 24-year-old woman died because she was suspected of contracting a diphtheria in Samararang District. The patient's condition does show symptoms that lead to infection. However, continued Leli, this allegation must be proven by further examination, which until now the results cannot be known. "We have done the test, but the results have not come out," he said. The Garut Regency Government has determined an extraordinary incident (KLB) of the diphtheria, since it was discovered that many residents have contracted the diphtheria in Pangatikan District in February 2023. The case of the diphtheria, he said, has re-emerged in another sub-district which has now received immediate medical treatment by examining the health of everyone who is in close contact with the patient. His staff also provided medicine for people around patients suspected of having contracted the diphtheria, as a step to prevent the bad effects of the spread of the disease. "Scring continues, vaccinations are also tightened," he said. The case of the alleged diphtheria in Samararang District has made the Garut Regency Government prepare a special isolation room for medical treatment for diphtheria patients.

The isolation room was prepared at the Dr. Slamet Garut Regional General Hospital (RSUD), which has provided equipment and a medical team.
